Summary of Resettlement

This chapter in The Oxford Handbook of International Refugee Law critiques resettlement as a ‘durable solution’ to forced displacement, focusing on the tension between asylum and resettlement in Global North States. This critique does not attack the value of resettlement, to both refugees and receiving States, but rather seeks to encourage States to do better in how they govern resettlement and asylum.
