Summary of Homestay Accommodation for Refugees (in Europe). A Literature Review

This article is a review of literature on homestay accommodations for refugees. ‘Homestay accommodations’ are when locals offer to share their living space with refugees they have no personal connection to as an act of solidarity. Homestay accommodations are different from community-based sponsorship due to the fact that sponsors do not usually envisage sharing their personal space with refugees; however, both sponsors and homestay hosts seek to support refugees’ social inclusion.

The views expressed are those of the author/s, and are not attributable to the host organisations of the Resettlement.Plus website.
