Summary of Canada’s Legacy in Afghanistan: Responding to the Humanitarian Crisis and Helping People Reach Safety

On 15 August 2021, the government of Afghanistan collapsed and the Taliban returned to power. Evacuations started through a multinational air bridge, but many Afghans were left behind after the last evacuation flight. The House of Commons created a Special Committee on Afghanistan (the Special Committee) to learn lessons and to determine how Canada can help better Afghans. This is a summary of that report.
