Summary of Seeking protection abroad. An overview of refugee protection regimes and current developments

Some Western countries have adopted measures that have contributed to creative a negative sentiment towards migrants and refugees. Current developments are marked by the erection of walls, deportation and refoulement. Canada is generally depicted as a welcoming society for immigrants; however detention and deportation of asylum seekers, as well as barriers to integration, represent a challenge of the current policy.
