Summary of The Impact of Private Hosting on the Integration of Ukranian Refugees
The Ukrainian crisis led to large-scale private hosting initiatives for refugee housing, with 27% of Ukrainian refugees in Europe being hosted by private citizens within the first months of the Russian invasion. This study examines the impact of private hosting on refugees' integration outcomes using data from #UnterkunftUkraine (UU), a platform created after the invasion that has matched over 60,000 Ukrainians with hosts in Germany. The study compares integration success among matched and unmatched refugees.
