In 2021-2022, the University of Ottawa Refugee Hub, in partnership with the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University, the University of Toronto and the Institute for Research into Superdiversity at the University of Birmingham, convened a Colloquium of events dedicated to exploring community based refugee sponsorship. The Colloquium included thematic workshops and two symposia, and featured contributions from leading researchers, practitioners, policy makers and advocates from around the world. See here for event notes, links to recordings, and to the Journey - the art exhibit curated for the Colloquium.

We have collected the Outcome Documents for each event here- review for key contributors, issues and findings from each event.

Link to the Journey: the Sponsorship Research Colloquium coordinators put out a public call for art and artefacts reflecting refugee journeys, and people with sponsorship and/or refugee experience from around the world sent in their contributions. The result is this exhibit, where people share their reflections on refugee journeys that have touched them. Some of the pieces reflect a person’s own journey, while others are contributed by refugee sponsors who have welcomed refugees to their community. We hope you are inspired by the humanity and creativity of this exhibit.

Recordings of events: found here [link needs to be added].
