The Refugee Mentorship Toolkit provides organizations with practical, adaptable guidance to design, implement, and sustain mentorship initiatives that centre refugee participation and leadership. Drawing on research, lived experience, and lessons from the uOttawa Refugee Hub–Pathways International Fellowship Program for Refugee Leaders, the Toolkit brings together frameworks, case examples, templates, and practical tools to help organizations create mentorship opportunities grounded in trust, meaningful participation, and shared learning.
The Toolkit emphasizes mentorship as a reciprocal relationship grounded in trust, meaningful refugee participation, flexibility, and shared learning, recognizing refugee leaders as equal partners rather than passive recipients of support. It is designed for academic institutions, NGOs, civil society and refugee-led organizations, community initiatives, and private sector partners seeking to strengthen or establish mentorship programs that enable refugees to develop their leadership and shape change.
